Welcoming 2027 Show Proposals!

Queanbeyan Players is looking for show proposals for its 2027 season.

QP will be presenting two shows at The Q next year in May/June and October/November.

We are also looking at the potential of bringing back our smaller scale show in 2027 - we encourage pitches of that nature, noting that this is dependent on venue availability/capability and timings of the production may change.

When submitting a proposal, potential artistic teams* should consider the following:

  • The proposal should include a brief summary of your vision for the show and how you hope to realise this.

  • The proposed show should be a musical with popular appeal and while preferably have a reasonable sized cast with opportunities for various age groups, we are open to all proposals.  

  • Be realistically castable – as QP is an amateur theatre group we like to engage as many of the local talent as we can. We also strongly support diverse casting, so where a character requires diversity the production team will need to ensure appropriate casting. This may include reaching out to communities to ensure the intent of the show is honoured.

  • Be realistic in terms of the limitations of the performing space and technical requirements (for example, The Q does not have a fly-tower and QP is an amateur group – while our budgets are reasonable, they are not unlimited. Link to The Q Theatre specs below).

  • Be realistic in terms of behind-the-scenes abilities in such capacities as set design and construction, wardrobe design and construction and props design and construction.

  • Be realistic in terms of marketability and financial viability of the show. QP’s entire income source comes from productions which allow us to put on future productions.

If your proposal is shortlisted for consideration, you will be invited to discuss the proposal with the committee. The committee will then make a final decision on the season. 

Closing date for submission of proposals is COB Friday 27 March.

Even if you do not yet have a full artistic team by the closing date, you can still put in a proposal.
