Hello QP family,

Welcome to the July Prologue for 2026 – and what a year it is shaping up to be!

First show 2026 - Les Misérables

May and June saw our production of Les Misérables take to the stage, marking a highly successful period for QP. We are delighted to reflect on a completely sold-out run; playing to packed houses every evening brought a wonderful energy to the theatre. We were also very pleased to receive excellent critical reviews, which highlighted the scale, emotion, and vocal strength of the performance.

This success is, of course, a testament to our talented cast, who approached these iconic roles with immense dedication.

However, a show of this magnitude relies just as heavily on the extraordinary efforts of those working behind the scenes. We must extend our sincere gratitude to the production team for expertly steering this monumental project from its very beginning. Equal praise is due to our set builders, who constructed the imposing barricades, and the wardrobe department, whose meticulous work with the costumes authentically brought 19th-century France to life. Furthermore, our skilled technical team ensured that the complex lighting and sound requirements were executed flawlessly night after night.

Earning a standing ovation at every single performance was a remarkable highlight for the entire company, and a clear indicator of how well the combined efforts of the cast, creatives, and crew resonated with the audience. To everyone who purchased a ticket, shared a review, or stood up to applaud: thank you. The hard work of our company, alongside our excellent orchestra, made this production possible, but it is your continued patronage that sustains live theatre. We are very grateful that you chose to spend your evening at the barricades with us.

Second show 2026 - Gypsy

Tickets are on sale now at: https://theq.net.au/whats-on/gypsy/

Looking ahead to Spring, we are very pleased to share an update on our upcoming

October and November production of Gypsy.

Based on the memoirs of the famous burlesque artist Gypsy Rose Lee, Gypsy: A Musical Fable is widely regarded as a masterpiece of the genre. With a celebrated book by Arthur Laurents and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, it stands as a classic example of a traditional book musical. However, despite its title, the narrative is truly driven by Gypsy’s mother, Rose Hovick. Often described as the ultimate stage mother, Rose serves as the fierce focus of the story, relying on her daughters to make her own deferred theatrical dreams a reality.

Audiences can look forward to a fantastic score featuring songs that have firmly established themselves as standards of the musical theatre canon, including ‘Some People’, ‘Let Me Entertain You’, and ‘You Gotta Get a Gimmick’.

Tickets are on sale now for this standout musical, and we highly recommend securing yours early to avoid disappointment. We are incredibly proud of the talented company we have assembled to tackle these complex, iconic roles. Please read on below for our cast announcement and be sure to join us later this year to see this amazing cast bring this classic fable to the stage.
